Sep 13 2008 - GR Driver Ryan Tuerck Grabs a 4th Place Finish at FD Event
Sonoma,
During Saturday’s qualifying rounds, Tuerck drove the Solstice GXP into the 8th position which put the team up against the factory backed Scion of Ken Gushi first round. Ryan made is look easy; breezing through the first round as Gushi got a low score after driving into Tuerck right side door. Heading into the second elimination round Tuerck was up against Sam Hubinette. Tuerck and Hubinette have met up numerous times this season with Ryan not normally advancing to the next round, however the pattern was about to change.
Ryan was able to show how his confidence and comfort has grown in the drivers’ seat of the GR Mobil 1 Solstice. Winning the round Ryan was able to put a damper on the championship points’ race; first place Hubinette, moved back one spot to the number 2 position. Moving into the events final four competitors, Ryan was up against the Solstice of Rhys Millen.
Millen is definitely one the best drivers around, mastering most of the forms of racing he participates in. 13 years older than Ryan, Millen used his experience to move onto the final round. Our hats go off to the Red Bull team for such as great season. The loss put Ryan in contention for the 3rd place spot. He was up against another top notch driver, Bill Sherman who ended up with the podium finish.
“I am very proud of my team; they are all doing a great job. With one event left in the 08 season, we are working toward a 5th place finish. As a rookie team, with the entire crew aside from Tuerck new to drifting and a stock Solstice, we are on our way to accomplishing a very difficult goal. With a Precision Turbo upgrade and some changes to the calibration of the stock computer, the Solstice has about 350 hp to the wheels making it a great starter car for anyone looking to get into drifting.”
